Assignment 2. A group project where we are going through the Design Thinking process and solving one of five topics of our choosing. Our group decided to solve the topic on technology which was ‘From a safety perspective, how might we encourage people not to stare at mobile phones?’ We would be following the Stanford d.school Design Thinking Model, to hopefully solve the problem.

We therefore started with the Empathise stage. This stage involves understanding the problem and what the consumer wants or needs. We hope to gather as much information as possible at this stage which will set us up for the following stages.
As a group we put our thoughts down on paper with our own knowledge of technology and mobile phones and how each age group uses them with brainstorms, empathy maps, personas and customer journey maps. Our goal was to figure out the age group which should most likely be targeted with the solution and try to learn as much about them and how they use their mobile phone for the next stage.
We then looked at our work and thought about if there was actually an underlying issue that we had to address, different to the original problem. From here we then went to the define stage.
